Regional Sales Manager for Latin America (LatAm)



Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Location: Houston, TX
Reports to: CEO
Salary Range: Market Rate

Position Summary

This is a Senior Management position that will report to the CEO. This management position is responsible for creating a new department beginning with the Human Resources Manager and is a hands-on position:

Essential Functions

Management
  • Coach, counsel, and/or train managers and employees regarding performance management, career development, and disciplinary actions to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
  • Partner with senior management on succession planning, mentoring programs,
  • Prepare and deliver effective training courses on topics such as interviewing skills, anti-harassment, and conducting performance evaluations, to minimize risk of discrimination and lawsuits
Benefits
  • Administer insurance plans, 401(k), leaves of absence, including FMLA, short-term/long-term disability, paid and unpaid leaves, worker's compensation and unemployment compensation plans
  • Work with the CEO to analyze and select appropriate employee benefits plans; administer all employee benefits; track and document all employee benefits and payroll
  • Audit employee files
Recruiting
  • Recruit both domestically and internationally; facilitate the hiring of qualified management, technical and administrative personnel in multiple locations. This may involve developing and/or revising job descriptions, posting jobs externally, screening resumes, conducting interviews, checking references, negotiating employment offers and independent contractor agreements and negotiating fee agreements with recruiters and employment agencies to maintain cost effectiveness
  • Maintain records and status of candidates
  • Develop and manage college recruiting program

General HR Responsibilities

  • Manage HR department supporting including staffing, performance management, compensation, and employee recognition
  • Implement HR department. Develop goals, objectives, and processes to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Establish effective policies and procedures to comply with federal and state employment and benefit laws
  • Comply with EEOC regulations as required.
  • Implement compensation processes including performance management, promotions, merit increases, bonuses, incentive payments and recognition awards, etc.
  • Work with immigration attorneys to process employees' work visas and green cards
  • Draft documentation for employee files to preserve details on all employee relations issues for future use in performance counseling and other disciplinary action
  • Improve employee communications by implementing an effective on boarding program and also quarterly employee business meetings
  • Conduct exit interviews and identify reasons for separations and potential retention opportunities/efforts
  • Design Employee Satisfaction Surveys to gather employee feedback
  • Review/revise policy manual and employee handbook
  • Implement safety procedures and/manual manual and conduct periodic safety review
  • Draft/revise policies and procedures to comply with current laws and company processes
  • Draft and maintain documentation for employee files on performance counseling and other disciplinary action
  • Conduct pre-employment reference and background checks
  • Conduct exit interviews
  • Administer worker's compensation and unemployment compensation plans
  • Counsel managers on performance review process and compensation practices
  • Conduct on-boarding process for new employees

Examples of Expected Initial Deliverables

  • In the first 30 days create a written report evaluating existing processes and procedures and create an action plan identifying areas for improvement which describes best practices and plans for their implementation.
  • Research and report on essential HR regulations for existing foreign offices and create a plan which ensures compliance.
  • Improve and implement an Employee Performance Review Program within first 60 days.
  • Create formal job descriptions for each current employee and develop a workforce development plan.
  • Put in place employee recruiting procedures which improve candidate identification, applicant evaluation and selection, employee interviewing skills, and compliance with employment law.
  • Recommend and implement policies to track and reduce cost per hire.

Qualifications

  • Degree and certifications in Human Resources or a related field
  • Stable work history that demonstrates a history of success and increased responsibility.
  • Ten years of HR Generalist experience with at least three years in a managerial role.
  • Significant understanding and experience of rules and regulations governing employment laws as well as experience in international branch hiring.

Position Summary

Responsible for developing new business opportunities for Headworks Inc. in the Latin America region (Mexico, Central and South America). Direct, manage, coordinate, and execute Sales and Marketing activities with internal sales personnel and external Manufacturers Representatives. Participate in the evaluation and integration of new products. Work closely with marketing personnel to develop sales and marketing tools. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing and accounting functions to capitalize on sale returns and provide proficient customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute a business plan targeting the LatAm region, including the identification and rationalization of key market sectors
  • Manage a schedule rich in direct interaction with current and potential clients
  • Identify key stakeholders and schedule field visits to discuss Headworks Inc. offering
  • Conduct sales calls and perform Technical Sales Presentations to engineers and end users
  • Build relationships with all the key stakeholders in the wastewater industry
  • Diligently follow-up with the clients until an award or signed contract is completed
  • Convert potential projects into proposals/preferential specifications according to priorities
  • Recruit and train Manufacturers Representatives, ensure they are knowledgeable about Headworks Inc. product offering and understand effective sales techniques to increase sales and profitability
  • Increase visibility and awareness of Headworks Inc. in the LatAm region through attending relevant tradeshows, exhibitions and conferences
  • Consult with the Sr. Management regarding sales policies, product revisions and pricing changes
  • Keep Sr. Management abreast of market changes and new sales leads through reports and frequent communication
  • Plan/maintain accurate records of travel, meetings, telephone calls, proposals and sales
  • Assist in the development of corporate sales plans, forecasts and marketing plans
  • Must have a clear understanding of Headworks Inc. products, services and capabilities
  • Must have an understanding of the wastewater industry in the LatAm region: its stakeholders, major players and business climate
  • Must understand roles and interaction among domestic and international companies, consulting, and engineering firms
Examples of Initial Deliverables

Although not a complete and comprehensive list of tasks, the following is an initial roadmap for the expectations of the first few months in this position; this plan may evolve if business needs change:

  • First 30 Days: Become familiar with Headworks Inc. existing and ongoing international sales efforts. Establish contacts with current representatives, distributors and key customers. Learn the key selling points and technical aspects of Headworks equipment and systems. Gain a basic understanding of the company's systems and procedures, including but not limited to databases and sales management systems.
  • First 60 Days: Develop a strategy to manage existing activities and new business development. Review with Sr. VP to ensure LatAm strategy is in line with the company's overall global strategy. Understand the process of reviewing projects and quoting basic equipment. Shadow other Sales Managers to learn best practices and sales culture.
  • First 90 to 180 Days: Begin implementation of outlined strategies and plans

Qualifications

  • University degree (science/technical preferred).
  • 5 + years of work experience in the water/wastewater industry
  • Wastewater, Biological/Process Background
  • Experience working with Manufacturers Representatives
  • Self-disciplined and possess excellent communication skills
  • Team player committed to working with a team of highly motivated sales personnel
  • Must be an excellent negotiator and closer
  • Sales experience preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish

Job Requirements

  • Travel required internationally: 30% - 50% of the time
  • Attitude: Ability to work in a high-energy environment with minimal direction and supervision
  • Highly computer literate - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
