All of Team Headworks wishes each of you and yours in this year 2008 good friends, good health, prosperity and the time to enjoy and reflect on it all! By the time you receive this issue of HeadsUp!, 2007 will be behind us. For Headworks, it was a record business year with great new additions to our Team, our member list of customers, and our best in the industry Rep group! We see 2008 as building on top of this success and we are all excited here about the potential for this New Year.

In our tradition of keeping this newsletter short and, hopefully, illuminating or entertaining, our great and fearless writer, Katherine, has elected to research and write about how the first day of the year has been chosen in the past and why it’s now January 1st. Given the various countries and traditions our Headworks Team is comprised of, she also wrote about the various ways the New Year is celebrated in various parts of the world. My particular favorite tradition is that in Ecuador! 

On Thanksgiving Day (USA) in 2006, a Headworks Bar Screen was started up in the City of Canmore in Canada. This replacement screen has been running for over a year without a hitch to the total satisfaction of our customer, Epcor Water Services, the plant operating company. We have a short case study that discusses the problems and solutions faced at this site.
