And Happy February. For those still in the heart of winter, there’s hope. Just down the street from our house, our neighbors' fruit tree is abloom with white flowers – our first herald of Spring here in Houston! Days of deep freezing temperatures in January didn’t deter it from bursting out in blossoms even earlier than normal!

With permission of Waterworld Magazine who first published the article, we bring you an interesting discussion by one of our well-respected process engineers on the need for two-stage screening in plants utilizing membrane technology. Having introduced the fine bar screen into the United States that first allowed coarse and fine screening in one piece of equipment, we are particularly well-positioned to understand the limitations of trying to handle both exercises when the protection of fragile, expensive membrane systems is at stake. Ms. Bailey’s article also highlights the differences in the various types of screening equipment available on the market today.
