Case Study

CITY OF GALVESTON

Here at Headworks® we pride ourselves on our reliability, low maintenance and longevity of our screens. We build tough, using only the highest quality materials. Even after all of these years, no Headworks® Bar Screen has ever required replacing due to its failure of operation!  Year after year, these Bar Screens keep on doing their job.

Communities everywhere have learnt the advantages of going with Headworks® equipment. The City of Galveston, Texas, is a great example of the rewards that can be realized to the operational personal as well as the tax payers.

The City already owned and operated Headworks Bar Screens at two of their waste water treatment plants.  Having seen the advantages of the equipment, late last year they purchased two Bar Screens and a Screwpactor for the Galveston Airport.  These screens were delivered last February.

Our relationship with Galveston dates back to when the first Headworks® screen was installed there in 2003. Prior to using our equipment, the pumps upstream from the screens would get ragged up and break down on a regular basis. Shutdown maintenance on these pumps was necessary every 2 to 4 weeks which was extremely costly in both time and money, according to Galveston Plant Operations Manager Dennis Zajack.

Since the installations of the Headworks Bar Screens, the pump maintenance has been drastically reduced from its previous cycle of every 2 to 4 weeks.  “Maintenance due to pump blockages is now necessary on average since Headworks®’ screen installation only once a year!” (D. Zajack, City of Galveston).
